Long Term Car Rental Tips
By Jerry Lyons

You might think, "why the heck would I want to rent a car for a month or more?" You may have job relocation or an extended vacation or trip. Long term car rentals can be available to meet those specific needs.

Generally a long term is a rental that lasts more than 4 weeks. If a company doesn't offer special long term rates, and you still wanted to rent from them, you would have to rent the car for 28 days at a time and return the car at the end of each rental period. At that time you would close out your contract and start a new rental.

If your rental length requirement is from 27 to 31 days, check carefully at the rates for different return dates.

There are sometimes savings to rent for 28 - 31 days as opposed to a 27 day rental. For some rental companies,, a 27 day rental is more expensive than a 28 - 31 day rental. (Keep in mind that you would need to check and figure if the cost of optional coverages and equipment, if

taken, for the extra days days, would outweigh the savings on the base rate itself.)

Often, you may find a 30 day rate to be quite a bit more than a 27 day rate. Always check several options for dates, if you can.

A long term rental will be expensive, there's no question about it, but by checking carefully with several companies and knowing your options, you can get the best rate available to fulfill your needs!
