National Car Rental
By barry tiles
National company started in 1947 as a cooperation between 24 independent rental car agents. There were immediately 60 offices around the country. By 1947 standards, that was a big company. But it's nothing compared to 2000 locations world wide in 2009. When people need to rent an auto, they can go to National.

While on business many people need to rent automobiles. A set of wheels of their own is important. At night that's even more important. People don't want to be on a bus when it's night.

Incredible rental deals can be found with National. A daily rate lower than $20 isn't unusual. Sometimes there are even cheaper special deals. One day travel for $1 per day is possible some times of the year.

In addition to the specials many other services offer, National offers last minute deals. It considers itself the last minute specialist, and takes action to make that come true. People don't always have notice for a trip that requires a rental car. Nobody pre-plans a funeral trip, for instance. It doesn't matter to National the reason, they want to help with last second situations. Here's a couple. $19 a day for a compact car, or a convertible for only $170 weekly. Low last minute rates are pretty unique to National.

car companies are owned by the same corporation. They've both been owned by Enterprise since 1997. The reason the brands remain separate is that each has an associated niche. Whereas Enterprise is associated more with business rentals and corporate fleets, and Alamo has a reputation as a vacation company, National maintains the image of the place to go for last second rentals.

People can still rent from any of these companies. Use Travelocity to compare them all. Look around for specials and coupon codes . And if they're the best deal, then by all means choose National car rental.
